Oh look another question what a surprise!

I'm teaching a class about robotics programming and I'm using berrybots as a simulation program, but I need to know some more exact physics about the way a ship behaves in order to effectively teach the math. From what I understand, when you fire the thrusters, you give it a range from 0-1 implying 0 to 100% of the speed but exactly what is 100%? I need to know how many units per tick the ship travels at max speed to make an effective vector calculation.

Thanks,
Jordan

No worries, I'm glad to see questions! :-) Very cool to hear you are using BerryBots in that environment.

There is no max speed until you hit a wall. And 0 to 1 is actually the amount of force. So if you are at a standstill and fire thruster with a force of 1, you are now moving with a speed of 1 pixel* / tick, and if you use a force of 1 for 20 ticks in a row at the same angle, your speed is 20 pixels / tick. (*Not necessarily a pixel ... I should have a custom unit of distance. But anyway, one distance unit.)

Does that make sense?

Edit: per tick, not per second.
